Lab Tutor

Lab tutors serve to assist ESL students in their learning of English.  Each tutor meets briefly  (5-15 minutes) with an individual student. The point of initiation can be (a) student request, (b) teacher request (c) lessons prepared for student’s level. The lessons may cover any aspect of speaking, listening, reading, writing, or culture.

Lab tutors will be trained in a pre-session workshop and again throughout the semester for one hour during the four day work week.

Lab tutors are expected to become progressively familiar with the ALI learning materials, print or non-print media.

Lab tutors are expected to review these materials and the lessons provided when they are not working with students.

Lab tutors report to the lab supervisor who keeps your hours, assists you in working out problems in the lab, and evaluates your performance.
