Dr.
Dan J. Tannacito
is Professor of English in the
Composition & TESOL graduate programs at IUP. He
received two doctorate degrees from the University
of Oregon in Linguistics and Literature. He has
taught ESL and applied linguistics for nearly forty
years, founding and directing the American Language
Institute since 1983. In 1992, he served as a Senior
Fulbright scholar and director of the MATEFL program
at Bilkent University in Turkey. He has taught in
China, Thailand, and lectured in many places. He has
been a graduate teaching faculty member for 30
years, directing nearly 50 dissertations and
teaching numerous graduate courses on teaching and
research. He has published on discourse
analysis, second language writing as well as
intensive ESL. He is the recipient of the 2007 IUP
Distinguished Faculty in Teaching award.
